Hi. I'm Lisa Grey with Best Buy - I'm the general manager of store 801 in Tenleytown, Washington, DC. Best Buy is committed to giving back to the community, so we have about 30 volunteers here to do a little beautification here at Franklin shelter... so we're all really excited to be here.
It's Glen O'Gilvie, President and CEO at Earth Conservation Corps. Here at Pope Branch park, we operate a tremendous AmeriCorps program that engages members from the local community in environmental service as they receive critical workforce development. Today we removed invasive plant species; we also removed trash an debris, and also planted and groomed some of the trees that were here from a previous project. It has been a tremendous project - we had tires, refrigerators, toilet seats, and all of the other things that are criminally dumped at this area... and some that find there way here as well. So we're engaging the community - the residents who live nearby - to come out and really address this critical issue on Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday... and it's a day on, not a day off.
